I worked with Lotto at Open Road Media. She is very in-touch with current trends in certain segments of the culture. In particular, new genres and new media formats, of which she can be said to be at the very cutting edge. From Japanese Kanji to manga to whichever genres of novels are doing well in the current publishing environment, Lotto is always absorbing more about this unique moment of rapid cultural evolution. I learned a lot from her.

Perhaps most impressive of all was how many insights she had in fields well outside her specialty. She had numerous good suggestions on how our technology could be improved, and how the workflows within the company could be improved.

She’s recently moved to Kodansha, who made a brilliant decision when they decided to hire her. Kodansha is the publisher for A Silent Voice, a manga series that I’ve been reading and which I think is very good. Lotto knows the manga scene inside-and-out so Kodansha just got itself a true expert in the field.
