Growing apart from old friends

(written by Lawrence Krubner, however indented passages are often quotes)

An odd post from Sebastian Marshall, about growing apart from old friends. I disagree with most of this – I think all people tend to grow apart with time, and it does not matter if some are “improving” or not. But it is an interesting post, just like anything that Marshall writes.

That’s a good point, yeah. I was replying to a guy specifically talking about how he’d made a lot of progress and it felt strange to be around his friends.

I’ve seen similar things with lots of people – y’know, if you’re in a group of people who all eat lots of junk, smoke lots of cigarettes, drink to oblivion, and you clean that up – it’s going to be kind of weird and awkward among your old friends, no matter how graceful you are about it.

But yes, people do grow apart over time too for other reasons – good point. Cheers for the mention and feedback, and godspeed in 2011.
