Stuff I do when I am burned out
(written by lawrence krubner, however indented passages are often quotes). You can contact lawrence at: lawrence@krubner.com, or follow me on Twitter.
I’ve noticed these are the things I do when I am depressed and burned out:
1.) read newspapers
2.) watch television
3.) watch movies on/from Netflix
4.) read weblogs
5.) read novels or history books
6.) sleep
If I am very depressed and burned out:
7.) post comments on websites, in response to things I’ve read
When I had my own business, 2002-2008, I was so excited about my work that I rarely did any of the above. I recall, at one point, I went 6 months without watching television, and then I only watched television because I had started dating a girl who wanted to watch television.
These last few years, much of the work I’ve had has been very stressful, so I’ve been doing a lot more of these 6 things. But, with the possible exception of #5, I wish I was doing less of these things.
