Why is alcohol good for you?
(written by lawrence krubner, however indented passages are often quotes). You can contact lawrence at: lawrence@krubner.com, or follow me on Twitter.
I’ve seen several articles now that stress the fact that alcohol helps you socialize. Personally, alcohol puts me to sleep. When I want to socialize, I drink a lot of coffee and tried to get wired. I’m funnier when I’m amped. Having said all that, my own guess is that alcohol helps longevity because when it breaks down the OH group get broken away from the rest of the molecule. Possibly the benefits comes from the oxygen. Possibly the effect is related to the ability of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to control HIV and other viruses.
