Robert Lindsay has up all 12 of the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad that have inspired so many riots this week. As Lindsay writes:

Yes, folks, printed above are the cartoon charicatures of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that are arousing so much rage in the Muslim World, (they can also be found on the Internet here) including an incident on February 3 where 300 Muslim fanatics rampaged through the Danish Embassy in Jakarta, smashing lamps, throwing chairs around, throwing rotten eggs and tomatoes.

In the latest incident today, a mob stormed the Danish and Norwegian Embassies in Damascus, Syria and burned both embassies to the ground.

The cartoons look surprisingly ordinary to me, and I am amazed they have the power to unleash such fury.

I’ve nothing much to add to this discussion, other than my belief that the Western powers can lead by example on this issue by saying, loud and clear, they support the right to free speech, even when what is said upsets some people.
